IRCC has held the eleventh Express Entry draw of 2023.<\/p>\n

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada<\/a>\u00a0(IRCC) issued a total of 3,500\u00a0invitations to apply<\/a>\u00a0(ITAs) to candidates in an all-program draw. Candidates required a minimum\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System<\/a>\u00a0(CRS) score of 483.<\/p>\n

In an all program draw candidates are considered from the\u00a0Canadian Experience Class<\/a>\u00a0(CEC), the\u00a0Federal Skilled
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

Worker Program (<\/a>FSWP) and the\u00a0Federal Skilled Trades Program\u00a0(FSTP).<\/p>\n

This draw\u00a0follows the one on April 12\u00a0in which 3,500 candidates received invitations to apply (ITAs) in an all-program draw. Those candidates needed a minimum CRS score of at least 486.<\/p>\n

The April 12 draw invited just half the number of candidates that were invited in the draws on\u00a0March 15,\u00a0March 23\u00a0and\u00a0March 29, all of which invited 7,000 candidates each over two weeks instead of the typical bi-weekly draws. It also raised the minimum CRS score from 481 to 486. The draw size and higher CRS score are more in line with previous draws seen in 2022 and early 2023.<\/p>\n

March milestones in Express Entry<\/h3>\n

March this year saw over 21,000 ITAs issued in a single month. This was the second-highest number of ITAs issued in the history of Express Entry.<\/p>\n

The highest number of ITAs issued in a month was when\u00a027,332 CEC candidates were invited in a single draw in February 2021.<\/p>\n

That said, the first draw in March for 7,000 candidates was the largest-ever all-program draw. The following two draws repeated this number for a total of 21,000 candidates invited in two weeks and a monthly total of 21,667 ITAs issued.\u00a0The remaining 667 ITAs were issued in a March 1 draw\u00a0that targeted only\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program\u00a0(PNP) candidates.<\/p>\n

In total, there were four Express Entry draws in March, one each week. This is unusual because draws typically only occur every two weeks on Wednesdays.<\/p>\n

What is Express Entry?<\/h3>\n

Express Entry\u00a0is an application management system that was established in 2015 to evaluate and rank candidates from three of Canada\u2019s economic class immigration programs: the\u00a0Canadian Experience Class\u00a0(CEC), the\u00a0Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the\u00a0Federal Skilled Trades Program\u00a0(FSTP).<\/p>\n

Candidates in these programs are considered highly skilled and likely to economically establish in Canada. Express Entry uses the\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System\u00a0to evaluate the candidates based on human capital factors such as work experience, occupation, language ability and education. Those who obtain high scores are the most likely to receive an\u00a0invitation to apply\u00a0(ITA) in an upcoming Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n

If a candidate receives an ITA, they have 60 days to submit their final application for permanent residence to IRCC. An immigration officer then reviews the application and decides if the candidate is approved for permanent resident status.<\/p>\n
