{"id":5071,"date":"2024-05-28T14:32:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-28T11:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadaii.com\/?p=5071"},"modified":"2024-05-28T14:32:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T11:02:00","slug":"how-to-be-considered-for-jobs-in-canada-while-still-in-the-express-entry-pool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadaii.com\/en\/how-to-be-considered-for-jobs-in-canada-while-still-in-the-express-entry-pool\/","title":{"rendered":"How to be considered for jobs in Canada while still in the Express Entry pool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Canada\u2019s economic immigration programs are integral to the country\u2019s labour market growth, accounting for close to<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/news\/2022\/12\/canada-welcomes-historic-number-of-newcomers-in-2022.html#:~:text=Immigration%20accounts%20for%20almost%20100%25%20of%20Canada%E2%80%99s%20labour%20force%20growth.%20Roughly%2075%25%20of%20Canada%E2%80%99s%20population%20growth%20comes%20from%20immigration%2C%20mostly%20in%20the%20economic%20category.%20By%202036%2C%20immigrants%20will%20represent%20up%20to%2030%25%20of%20Canada%E2%80%99s%20population%2C%20compared%20with%2020.7%25%20in%202011.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0100% of all increases in the national workforce<\/a>\u00a0in recent years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Due to the integral role that immigration plays in Canada\u2019s economy, employment initiatives are often connected to immigration programs to help Canada\u2019s employers fill vacant positions that they may not be able to hire for within the country. One key example of this is the ability of employers to hire candidates within the Express Entry candidate pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When do employers hire through the Express Entry system?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Employers must be within certain contexts and meet\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/ircc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada<\/a>\u00a0(IRCC) standards before they can hire a foreign national in the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry<\/a>\u00a0pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Specifically, employers must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Make sure they are hiring for a position that qualifies as skilled work. Skilled work includes jobs classified under Canada\u2019s TEER (Training, Education, Experience and Responsibility) system as category 0,1, 2, or 3 of the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/noc2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Occupation Classification<\/a>\u00a0(NOC)*; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Show that they cannot fill the job domestically including proof that they have advertised the job posting on the Government of Canada\u2019s\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jobbank.gc.ca\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Job Bank<\/a>\u00a0website, and in \u201ctwo other places\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">*Canada\u2019s NOC system is used to describe and categorize professions that exist within the country. It includes the TEER system, which then distinguishes job levels based on the training, experience, education, and responsibilities needed to perform the roles of the job.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How do employers hire through Express Entry?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To find candidates and make job offers through Express Entry, employers in Canada use the \u201cJob Match\u201d feature of the national Job Bank. The Job Bank is the federal platform for job postings in addition to a host of other employment-related services and resources like career planning tools, labour market information, and hiring help (among others).<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With the Job Match feature, the Job Bank\u2019s system will work to pair an employer\u2019s job posting with profiles within the system that match the job description within a posting. Once these candidates are identified (and hiring processes are followed), an employer can choose whether to consider them for the position. Note that the Job Match feature considers all individuals within the Job Bank system\u2014not just those in the Express Entry pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If an employer decides (after having met all pre-conditions) that they would like to make a job offer to a foreign national within the Express Entry pool, they may first require a\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/labour-market-impact-assessments.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour Market Impact Assessment<\/a>\u00a0(LMIA). LMIAs are government assessments to determine what the impact of hiring a foreign national will be on the Canadian labour market. The document must return a positive or neutral result to support the hiring of a foreign national by a Canadian employer. There are also certain conditions under which\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/work-canada\/hire-permanent-foreign\/skilled\/make-job-offer.html#:~:text=Reasons%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20need%20an%20LMIA,work)%20for%20you%20or%20your%20company\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an LMIA is not needed<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Once an LMIA has been procured (if needed), the employer must make a valid job offer to the candidate,\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ircc.canada.ca\/english\/helpcentre\/answer.asp?qnum=695&amp;top=29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">under Express Entry standards<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"cicnewsads-3a3b405cc8834dc97028415bf450f5ea\" class=\"cicnewsads-3a3b405cc8834dc97028415bf450f5ea cicnewsads-in-article-1\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div id=\"cicnewsads-1167171183\" class=\"cicnewsads-in-article-1\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-3776717067892-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How can newcomers be considered for jobs while in the Express Entry pool?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Newcomers in the Express Entry pool, looking to use to \u201cJob Match\u201d feature of the Job Bank must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have a valid Express Entry profile with a profile number and job seeker validation code*; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Create a Job Match account (this is separate from a Job Bank account, though the services fall under one umbrella). The Job Match platform will prompt users to enter their Express Entry information when creating a profile.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">*Job seeker validation codes are codes provided by IRCC that allow eligible profiles to begin looking for work in Canada. These (along with the profile number) are generated once a valid profile is submitted to the Express Entry pool. Candidates who do not receive a job seeker validation code are advised to\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ircc.canada.ca\/english\/helpcentre\/answer.asp?qnum=1136&amp;top=29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contact IRCC<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Once both accounts are set up and connected, newcomers will be matched with job postings within the Job Bank.
