{"id":5092,"date":"2024-06-27T13:51:56","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T10:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadaii.com\/?p=5092"},"modified":"2024-06-27T13:51:56","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T10:21:56","slug":"british-columbia-is-introducing-three-new-international-graduate-pnp-streams-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadaii.com\/en\/british-columbia-is-introducing-three-new-international-graduate-pnp-streams-next-year\/","title":{"rendered":"British Columbia is introducing three new International Graduate PNP streams next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Three streams will be open to eligible recent graduates from Bachelor\u2019s, Master\u2019s and Doctorate programs in\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/landing-settlement-canada-british-columbia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Columbia<\/a>\u00a0(B.C.) in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In January 2025, the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/british-columbia-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(BCPNP) is\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">set to introduce<\/a>\u00a0the following three new\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/provincial-nomination-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(PNP) streams for international graduates.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Bachelor\u2019s stream<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Master\u2019s stream<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Doctorate stream<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0International graduates are students who have obtained a degree, diploma or certificate from an eligible post-secondary institution in Canada within the last three years. See below for full details regarding the eligibility criteria for the BCPNP\u2019s International Graduate stream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These streams aim to create clearer pathways for international graduates to obtain Canadian permanent residence (PR) and improve their employment prospects across British Columbia.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What has British Columbia revealed about the new streams so far?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thus far, the provincial government in B.C. has outlined the following details about the new streams its PNP will introduce in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Launch date: January 2025<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Updated language requirement: Each of the new streams will require a minimum of\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canada-immigration-language-converter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Language Benchmark<\/a>\u00a0(CLB) 8<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Graduates of diploma and certificate programs will not be eligible for these new streams but may still be eligible for other BCPNP pathways<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The following will outline\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">what B.C. has released to date<\/a>, about the eligibility criteria, features and benefits of each upcoming stream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0B.C. has also revealed that more information about these streams, including more detailed criteria for each new stream, will be available in late 2024. The province\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/documents-folder\/BC-PNP-Graduate-Streams.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notes<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cwhen the new graduate streams are launched, an updated edition of the BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide will be published with complete stream criteria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bachelor\u2019s stream<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For recent graduates with Bachelor\u2019s degrees from eligible post-secondary institutions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Eligible graduates must have an eligible, full-time, indeterminate (without a declared end date) job offer<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Master\u2019s stream<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"cicnewsads-be9ee5e7c3f14df146da5b10174c4af6\" class=\"cicnewsads-be9ee5e7c3f14df146da5b10174c4af6 cicnewsads-in-article-1\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div id=\"cicnewsads-1175406864\" class=\"cicnewsads-in-article-1\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-9388095496287-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For recent graduates with Master\u2019s degrees (in any field of study) from eligible post-secondary institutions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Graduates must have a full-time job offer (lasting at least one year) in a skilled occupation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Doctorate stream<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For \u201cgraduates and [PhD] candidates of doctoral level programs\u201d from eligible post-secondary institutions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Other important details about the three new BCPNP streams<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Job offer* restrictions:<\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/documents-folder\/BC-PNP-Graduate-Streams.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three new BCPNP streams<\/a>\u00a0outlined above \u201cwill not be limited to a list of eligible occupations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">*B.C. clarifies that, although job offers will not be limited, offers of employment are still required to meet the criteria for B.C.\u2019s three new streams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Approved program restrictions:<\/strong>\u00a0B.C.\u2019s\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/documents-folder\/BC-PNP-Graduate-Streams.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three new streams<\/a>\u00a0will not include a list of approved programs, meaning that \u201crecent graduates from degree programs in any field of study may be eligible for the new student streams\u201d as long as they meet the required criteria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Competition for\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-invitation-to-apply-for-permanent-residence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Invitations to Apply<\/a>\u00a0(ITAs):<\/strong>\u00a0The B.C. government\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/documents-folder\/BC-PNP-Graduate-Streams.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clarifies that<\/a>, because there are individual streams for eligible candidates with each type of credential (Bachelor\u2019s, Master\u2019s, Doctorate), there will be no competition between students with different credentials for ITAs. In other words, \u201cBachelor&#8217;s stream applicants will [only] be considered alongside other\u201d applicants with a Bachelor&#8217;s degree.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Am I eligible for B.C.\u2019s International Graduate stream?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Although each of the new streams will also have unique eligibility criteria, the following will outline general eligibility criteria for\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/Skills-Immigration#IG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all BCPNP International Graduate streams<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"cicnewsads-2364ac3fea619ce6484f2d00e8816318\" class=\"cicnewsads-2364ac3fea619ce6484f2d00e8816318 cicnewsads-in-article-2\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div id=\"cicnewsads-515008231\" class=\"cicnewsads-in-article-2\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-7786791805928-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To qualify through B.C.\u2019s International Graduate stream, candidates must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have obtained a degree, diploma or certificate from an eligible Canadian post-secondary institution within the last three years<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have accepted a qualifying full-time job offer from an employer* in B.C.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The job offer must have no defined end date (indeterminate)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A job offer does not need to be indeterminate if it is in a priority technology occupation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The job offer must be in one of the following\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/noc2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Occupation Classification<\/a>\u00a0(NOC)\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/noc2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities<\/a>\u00a0(TEER) categories: 1, 2, or 3<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">NOC TEER 0 occupations are not eligible for the International Graduate stream<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Be qualified to work in their chosen occupation in B.C.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have a wage offer \u201cin line with B.C. wage rates for the job they will be working<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Prove the ability to support themselves and any eligible dependents<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meet minimum language requirements<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong>\u00a0B.C.\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welcomebc.ca\/Immigrate-to-B-C\/News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently<\/a>\u00a0raised the minimum language requirement for all BCPNP streams except its Health Authority stream (which was already previously adjusted)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">*The employer must \u201cagree to support [the candidate\u2019s] application while themselves meeting certain Employer-focused requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Important details about Skills Immigration in British Columbia<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Skills immigration, which includes the BCPNP, uses a points-based system to rank and select eligible immigration candidates. Candidates who receive an ITA through the BCPNP have 30 calendar days to submit their application to the province.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Once an applicant submits their application, they must pay the application fee and submit all required documents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The BCPNP scores candidates, through its points system, based on human capital and economic factors. Human capital factors include related work experience and proficiency in Canada\u2019s official languages (English, French).
